Dean and Sam's unlikely ally escape from Purgatory. However, Dean soon discovers that Sam has retired as a hunter. When they learn that the Prophet Kevin has escaped his captivity, the Winchesters go back to work to save him.

Kevin insists that the Winchesters take him to check on his mother Linda and they discover that she's being watched by demons. Once they free Linda, she insists on going with them to protect her son as they recover the tablet.

Sam and Dean investigate a series of murders where the victims all received organs from the same donor; the brothers find the killer in a trance and reciting an ancient prayer.

DJ: Rating - 7/10 - Strong episode. I feel like this would have been a weak episode but the parts where the boys were talking and discussing their views on the future made this episode worthwhile. Having said that, I still enjoyed the MOTW aspect. 

The sci-fi series shakes things up with an episode shot in the 'found footage' format from the perspective of a college student bitten by a werewolf.

DJ: Rating - 6/10 - I feel like this is an episode I would enjoy more so on a rewatch, it's a nice break from all the heavy drama & is a strong stand alone ep. I was greedy for more plot #StandardDakara but I did appreciate the episodes creativity. I was very surprised by the ending, maybe Dean has a new view on life now? Who knows but i'm excited to explore this further. 

When Benny gets injured hunting down his Maker, he calls on Dean for help. Dean abruptly leaves Sam in the lurch, saying he has personal business. While he waits, Sam remembers how he and Amelia bonded.

DJ: Rating - 7.5/10 - I enjoyed discovering more about Benny in this episode. I've wanted to know more about him since his arrival, so it felt good to get a bit more clarity. I really like what  I see so far, I hope he doesn't turn on the boys down the line! Next ep I hope to see Dean open up to Sam about his time in purgatory & more about what happened to Cas in there! 

While investigating a spectre that possesses individuals and brings out their inner rage, Sam and Dean run into Garth, who is taking Bobby's place.

DJ: Rating - 8/10 - The boys discussing their feelings FINALLY was needed & it made this ep worthwhile I felt. I enjoyed the honesty, it's a shame a Supernatural being was needed to get that honesty though. I love Garth, he's such a sweet & pure guy. I didn't enjoy the Bobby-esque lines as I feel Garth is so good he could have his own lines. 

Stargate siren Amanda Tapping guest stars in a tumultuous instalment that sees Castiel return from Purgatory amid a series of odd natural disasters.

DJ: Rating 9/10 - Great ep this one guys! Loved finding out more info regarding Cas! Glad to see him back on my screen. I was worried they would pull another S7 trick & keep him hidden for aaaaaages! Thank the sweet lord he's back. He does seem different though. I'm also hella confused & intrigued with who & what this Naiomi lady was about that can somehow control Cas?!! Look forward to finding out more info there for sure. 

Castiel tells Sam and Dean that he has decided to become a hunter like them; the guys investigate a series of murders that resemble cartoon deaths.

DJ: Rating - 8.5/10 - The quirky SPN episode strikes again! Really enjoyed the looney tunes aspect to this, it added some comedy & intrigue to the episode in a good way. What stood out to me though were the emotional scenes! Man alive this show does those well!! I ramble yet again at the end of this video so please check that out if you wanna hear my thoughts on the episode. 

Sam asks hunter Martin Creaser to keep an eye on Dean's fanged friend Benny and soon has reason to believe the boys are in dangerous company.

DJ: Rating - 8.9/10 - I thoroughly enjoyed this ep. The twists and turns were great. I’m a fan of Benny, he just seems so interesting. Loved that he looked out for his great granddaughter but I feel for her she must be traumatised right about now. I enjoyed Martins return and the reasons behind it too, the boys were so naughty to each other this episode but I truly think that Dean went too far here. 

Matters of the heart trouble Sam as Amelia decides whether to return to her husband. Castiel also has split loyalties when a fellow angel needs rescuing.

DJ: Rating - 8/10 - Another solid ep guys, Season 8 is not disappointing at all! Cannot wait to see where the second half of the season takes me. Naiomi! Is she good? Is she evil? I DONT BLOODY KNOW! I wanted to like her but she just ordered Cas to kill & I did not approve! I get that she wanted to keep things secret and all but she didn't even hesitate, she just said KILL HIM! 

Dean and Sam investigate when two people die mysteriously while playing a game of "Moondoor"; the guys learn that Charlie is the queen of Moondoor.

DJ: Rating - 9.5/10 - Such a good episode!! Love Charlie so much, she's so likeable & geeky - I LOVE IT! Hope to see more of her. The concept of this episode was so much fun, I think we needed it. SPN do these episodes so well & it's great to have a little break from all the heavy stuff from time to time. 

A man claiming to be Henry Winchester appears in Sam and Dean's hotel room and demands to know where John Winchester is; Dean and Sam learn more about their father and their family history.

DJ: Rating - 9.8/10 - This episode was so good guys! I feel like I blinked and the episode was over! That's when you know you're having a good time watching! I would have liked to have seen Cas & Crowley but I fully feel like this episode flowed very well from start to finish. 

Sam and Dean investigate when a rabbi spontaneously combusts; a golem belonging to the rabbi's grandson attacks Sam and Dean.

DJ: Rating - 8.5/10 - The comedy in this one was great I gotta say! I also enjoyed seeing the lair that they have now. I genuinely hope that this becomes a regular base for the boys but at the same time I get nervous that it will be ripped away from them because, lets face it, when can they have nice things *sobs in fangirl*. 

Kevin figures out how to close the gates of hell after deciphering the tablets; Sam and Dean argue over who should complete three trials designed by God.

DJ: Rating - 8.8/10 - Well I cried...again...shock horror! I'm way too invested in this show haha. So the trials begin!! Sam has took control against Dean's wishes. Sam is a strong lad, he's been through a lot and come out the other side. 

After turning to witchcraft, a police officer named Kevin starts having nightmares in which he murders innocent people; when the murders start happening in real life, Sam and Dean investigate.

DJ: Rating - 6/10 - not the most thrilling episode. I enjoyed exploring the familiars aspect etc but overall wasn’t too invested. Let's hope for a more exciting one next. Can't win them all. 

Sam and Dean investigate a possible zombie case where an amnesiac man dies and revives himself once a day.

DJ: Rating - 6.5/10 - I loved the end scene but as a whole not the best episode for me. I feel there was some potential with Zeus so i'm a bit disappointed he died so easily 

Castiel tells Dean and Sam that Crowley has unleashed multiple demons in a small town; during an interrogation, the guys learn that Crowley has been torturing Meg.

DJ: Rating - 10/10 - this ep was awesome! I had so much to process that I got overwhelmed so I'm very sorry about my rambles during the outro and the ones that I will be typing out now... 

So much plot guys, so much emotion, so much action, so much so much so much! If this is what I have to look forward to with the finale of this season then asdfghjk!!! I cant even! 

Dean and Sam are surprised when they learn that Krissy Chambers was involved in some recent vampire deaths.

DJ: Rating - 6/10 - I liked that we had a past character make an appearance again, I would have preferred if a bit more time had passed though (maybe if she was older, there would have been more of a change/impact etc). I also found the concept interesting but it was slightly predictable. 

A terrified Kevin calls Sam and Dean after he hears Crowley's voice in his head; after Dean receives a visit from Naomi, he realises he needs to ask Benny for a favour.

DJ: Rating - 10/10 - There's a pain in my chest, is that normal??... Asking for a friend. Seriously though, MY HEART GUYS! This show kills me....I LOVE IT SO MUCH. What an episode!! Bobby, you precious human ghost you! I missed his face so much guys, seeing him was both torturous & amazingly enjoyable all at the same time!! 

Dean asks Sam to stop hunting until he recovers from the second trial; when a hacker (Felicia Day) stumbles upon a case, Dean teaches her how to be a hunter.

DJ: Rating - 8.5/10 - Very emotional ep, didn't much care for that crippling ending but it was a really good episode. I love Charlie, I really enjoy her warmth & free spirit. It was great to unwrap some of Charlie's history in this episode-even if it was hard to watch. 

When Dean and Sam receive an upsetting video message from Kevin, they decide to try and uncover the third trial; Castiel tries to get away from Naomi and the angels.

DJ: Rating - 9/10 - Crowley, oh Crowley, you are a cruel but clever beast. Glad to see Kevin come through this episode & trick Crowley. He did get the Angel tablet but he's determined to get the Demon one to avoid the gates closing! Metatron? Or who I liked to call Meladon ha...Apologies i'll no doubt get his name wrong every darn time! 

When Sam and Dean reunite with Castiel, they find a film that could be the key to the third trial; Crowley looks into Dean and Sam's past.

DJ:  Rating - 9/10 - OMG CROWLEY! Another level of evil. This is the 'best' way to hurt the boys & get what he wants. Sam is thinking to take the deal. Dean is wanting to stay on track-hopefully they will meet in the middle & stop Crowley whilst closing the gates! I do love how this show makes call backs to past episodes! It's brilliant! 

Dean and Sam are cornered as Crowley is poised to undo all the good they have ever done; Kevin tries to help the brothers with a final play against the Demon King.

DJ: Rating - 10/10 - Finale wins again! This episode was intense & went way too quickly! That ending too, omg, another major cliffhanger! Evil writers haha. I don't even know where to start with this...The trials I guess?? Sam was tricked into thinking these trials were going to 'purify him' when really he'd be 'pure' through death! I can't even! Metatron is a bloody villain and did Cas dirty!
